Busy Mom Life: Is This You?
Trust Me, I Know!
“I’m just too busy.”
“I just don’t have time to work out.”
“It’s too hard.”
“It’s too expensive.”
“I will invest when I have more money.”
“I don’t like to cook.”
“I don’t like to meal prep.”
“I don’t like to workout.”
“I don’t like to sweat.”
“My kids won’t let me workout.”
“I don’t have the energy to exercise.”
“I have to take care of my sick family member.”
“My doctor says I need surgery.”
“I don’t need a coach.”
“I can get my program cheaper at Walmart/Ebay/Amazon.”
Does any of this sound like you? Mommies, let me just tell you, I KNOW….I’ve been there! We all have this busy mom life….and we tend to keep making excuses as to why we’re unable to reach our goals. But ladies, let me encourage you, it’s NOT impossible! You can so do this.
Let’s start with the first one…
“I’m too busy.” “I don’t have time to workout.”
I totally get that, SO AM I. I’m a busy mom too. I work from home, I have 2 crazy girls, I cook all our meals, I clean up, I have errands to run, I take my girls to school and extra curricular activities, I do it all. But you’ve got to understand something. When you realize the importance of your health and how much your family depends on YOU to care for them, ESPECIALLY your kids, it’s an absolute MUST to take care of YOURSELF. If you don’t take care of yourself, how do you expect to care for others?
Think about this….imagine that you received a scary report from your doctor. You heard the dreaded “C” word (cancer)…then what? You won’t be able to care for your family anymore…they will be caring for you. We want to avoid this type of thing in the future. That’s why it is an absolute MUST to take care of yourself NOW. If you just can’t find time, then you need to MAKE time. Put it in your schedule. YOU NEED TO MAKE THAT TIME FOR YOURSELF. All you need is 30 minutes a day. Take a walk on your lunch break…wake up 30 minutes earlier and pop in that DVD, go to bed 30 minutes later, whatever it takes, MAKE IT HAPPEN.
“It’s too hard.”
What’s too hard? The workouts? Starting out?
For one, there’s a workout for every single fitness level. So that’ can’t be too hard. If starting out is the issue, then that’s why I do these monthly groups. Accountability and support are so key to your success. You don’t have to do this by yourself. You get to have me as your personal coach to help push you every single day. Plus there are a group of lovely ladies also on the same journey as you who feel exactly the same as you. Do you need more accountability? Maybe you need an accountability partner, and we can hook you up with that. You also get a workout calendar that tells you EXACTLY what workout to do on each day. You have a meal guide with awesome simple recipes to choose from. It’s so simple. It’s not hard at all. You just have to have the right mindset.
“It’s too expensive.”
I know exactly how you feel. How do I know? Because I felt the SAME WAY when I first started. But do you know what I discovered? First of all, I KNEW I had to get healthy, not only for me, but for my entire family. They depend on me. And the more I did research on food, what exactly is in our food (if you even call some of our food FOOD!) I realized I can either invest a little bit now on my fitness and nutrition, OR invest in A LOT later on when I develop all these crazy health issues. Either way, whether you start a fitness program or a gym membership, you’ll need to invest in a little something to get you going. Think of it as an investment in YOU and YOUR future.
“I’ll invest when I have more money.”
I can’t help to think of the baby statement, “We’ll have a baby when we’re more financially stable.” Are we ever financially stable to have kids? NOPE LOL And you’ll probably never invest when you have more money anyway. So if you want a baby now, have one. 🙂 If you want to get fit now then let’s do it.
“I don’t like to cook.”
Oh my gosh, ME EITHER! Or at least I used to not like it. But that completely changed when I truly challenged myself during the 21 day Ultimate Reset cleanse. I made a promise to myself to try EVERY SINGLE food item on that menu, and I DID! I had to learn to cook real quick. It was neat, trying new foods, experimenting with new recipes, finding out what I liked and what I didn’t like.
Have you looked at the ingredients on the packaged foods in the grocery store? Does it have carrageenan? Splenda? Aspartame? Nitrites or Nitrates? These are no nos. Along with many other ingredients that I can’t even pronounce. We want to get in the habit of eating WHOLE FOODS, REAL FOODS. Yes we live in a busy world where convenience food is on every corner, but look at our society…the obesity rates are rising high FAST! The good news is, we can take control NOW. It may be a little work on our part, but it’s sooo worth it girl!
And cooking doesn’t have to be hard. There are so many simple, fun, and tasty recipes out there that even your picky kiddos will enjoy.
“I don’t like to meal prep.”
I know that this can sound and even feel like a chore….and maybe it is. BUT….We can make this REALLY FUN. So try this next time you do meal prepping. Put on some music, make a cup of coffee or tea, and start your prepping. This will save you so much time during the week and even eliminate most of your cooking and prepping time during the week allowing you time for other things (LIKE YOUR WORKOUT!). And if your kiddos are like mine and like to help, let them help you prepare and cook your stuff. You will cherish this bonding time with your littles and make some precious memories. So be sure you do this, you will be so thankful that you did.
“I don’t like to workout.”
What is it that you don’t like? Is it the workout itself? Maybe you haven’t found something that you enjoy doing. I know running around the track in circles is NOT fun for me. What do you like to do? Do you like to do outdoor activities like hiking or rock climbing? Or do you like dance? Maybe you’re a Zumba girl. Or maybe you like sports. Do you know that there is a fitness program for basically any type of interest? Dance, martial arts, muscle confusion, crazy cardio, weight lifting, body building, yoga, pushing your body to its max, sports training, and so much more.
I’m going to show you some tough love here…because I care about you. Your doctor will tell you that you need to do 30 minutes a day of some form of exercise, so you may as well find something you like to do, and DO IT. Don’t let yourself go ladies. You never know, you may even inspire someone along the way. And how good would that feel!?
“I don’t like to sweat.”
Yup I’ve heard about that one…I personally LOVE to sweat. The more sweat, the better. Do you know that the more you sweat, the more fat you’re losing, and the more calories you’re burning? If you don’t sweat, then you’re not burning anything…and then you won’t reach your goals. But if you just don’t like the feel of sweat, how about this…like to swim? You’ll sweat, you just won’t know it 😉
“My kids won’t let me work out.”
I TOTALLY get this one. I used to depend on the girls’ naps…but naps don’t last forever do they…? So….this is what I do. I find an activity that they like to do, like Play-Doh, a puzzle, maybe a movie, or some form of craft. If that doesn’t last long, then I’ll invite them to workout with me…AND THEY DO! Use them as weights. Do arm curls with your 2-year-old. Put your 5-year-old on your back and do squats. Let your 3-year-old sit on your back while you do push-ups. Make it fun. And get this: When you workout from home, and they see you, they will want to do it too. So be that model for your kiddos. Show them the healthy way of life.
“I don’t have the energy to exercise.”
Hmmmm, why do you think that is? Are you getting enough rest? Are you eating the right foods? (Or wrong foods??) Let’s figure this one out together.
Ok, so we all know that we need 8 hours of sleep a night. Do you get 8 hours? Why or why not?
How about your foods? Do you eat out a lot? Maybe a lot of convenient fast food? That will drag you down. How about sugary foods? Sugar gives you that quick high and then you just fall flat on your face. That’s what happens with my girls, anyway LOL So make sure you’re eating healthy foods, carbs earlier on in the day, more veggies and lean proteins in the evening.
I can tell you what I do for energy. I do have my 1 cup of coffee in the morning. I’ll never give that up 😉 But you know what REALLY helps me get through the day and keep up with my 2 little crazies? (The Lord of course!) Have you ever heard of Shakeology? Let me be honest, this is a LIFESAVER. Before I even knew it existed, I was dragging, always tired, absolutely NO ENERGY. And having a newborn did not help at all. I even had trouble sleeping BEFORE kids, and now I have a newborn? I’ll NEVER sleep! That’s what I thought 5 1/2 years ago anyway. And then I discovered Shakeology. With it’s 70+ superfoods and natural energy source, you have more efficient brain function with that extra kick to help you get through the rest of your day without those annoying coffee jitters. I have a Shakeology testimony that you can check out to see how it affected my mommy milk. With my first baby, I couldn’t produce enough milk for her….wait til you see what happened with my second baby!
“I have to take care of my sick family member.”
I think that is awesome. How blessed they are to have you to care for them….but make sure you’re taking care of yourself FIRST. Remember what I said before, if you don’t take care of yourself, it’s harder to care for someone else. You MUST take care of yourself. You can pull yourself away for 30 minutes to do a quick workout. Just pop in your DVD and do it right there with them, let them cheer you on. Or let them rest a little bit while you go do your thing. They need rest too 😉 That’s what’s so great about home workouts, you can take them ANYWHERE!
“My doctor says I need surgery.”
Whoa! Ok, now that’s serious. Let me help you then. I will take you under my wing and teach you the ropes of fitness and nutrition so we can prove your doctor wrong. Do you know how dangerous surgery is? Do you know that surgery teaches you NOTHING about fitness and nutrition? I don’t care what your doctor says, most doctors are just in it for the money. They want you to keep coming back. My goal is to help you create a lifestyle that you can maintain, something that you can share with your family and make a legacy. Doctors don’t teach you anything except, “you need to lose weight.” They won’t give you any good tips on how to do it, just that you have to do it. That’s a lot of pressure on you, girl! Don’t let them walk all over you. Give me a little bit of your time and I’ll help change your life around.
“I can get my program cheaper off Amazon/eBay/Walmart.”
True, you certainly can. And it may be cheaper. But it won’t be authentic. Unfortunately those places of purchase won’t be able to provide you with the 30-day satisfaction guarantee or the lifetime guarantee. What’s a lifetime guarantee? It means that if anything happens to your discs, the company (Beachbody in this case) will replace those discs at no extra charge. How cool is that? If you purchased your discs from a different vendor, then you may end up paying more in the long run (or you may not even get a real disc set and possibly be missing some of the program equipment) due to damage. Also, you wouldn’t have free access to your personal coach (ME!). Something to think about…
“I don’t need a coach.”
Why do you say that? Let’s talk more about this….
Studies have shown that those who worked out and started their fitness programs without a coach were less likely to complete their programs, leaving their goals unfinished and never reached. Sadly, even though they still had their programs, it now just sits there collecting dust and their health is still on the line.
Those who did have a coach, most completed their programs and went above and beyond their goals. Of course you’re welcome to do this on your own, but wouldn’t it be nice to have someone to help keep you accountable, provide you with health and fitness tips daily, and help you to inspire others along the way? Remember, your family needs you. So let’s make sure you complete this program and continue on this journey to health.
Trust Me, I KNOW!
trust me ladies, I KNOW! I was right there ladies, right there in your shoes! But if you’re determined, if you’re motivated, if you have heart and drive, and if you have the right mindset, nothing can stop you. I know, YOU CANNOT BE STOPPED! I hope you were encouraged, and if you need that extra push, I am right here beside you to help you reach that goal.
